Getting Started

This guide will help you get started.

By the end of this you will know how to start using the migCloud portal.

Prerequisites

Below are few basic things that you would need before you can start using the portal.

An Account

First, you will need an account in the migCloud portal. It's free and easy to create an account.

Click Register and follow in page instructions to create an account for yourself in the migCloud portal.

If you already have an account, click Login.

You may as well choose to use social login in the Login page to use the portal.

Necessary Hardware

Having necessary Hardware is very important for any IoT project.

You will need:

• A SoM
• A Thing board
• A Peripheral board (at least one)

If you do not have necessary hardware, you must Explore & Buy Hardware
For a quick start, you must Explore & Buy Development Kits

You may also choose to use your own custom hardware.

Register Hardware

Once you are logged into the portal and have acquired necessary Hardware, you must register the hardware to your account.
We will use Register SoM as an example.

• Click on [Register SoM] menu item

• Enter the serial number of your SoM
  This is 8 character and alphanumeric
• Click [Register SoM]

Your SoM is ready to use. You may now connect this SoM to any Thing board.
This also registers the warranty for your SoM.

NOTE: All other Hardware could be registered in a similar manner in their respective pages.

If you have chosen to use your own custom hardware, you will have to create a custom hardware in the migCloud portal. You need to be handy with atleast one network identifier like MAC address.

The detailed documentation for the migCloud will be available under the help section of the portal after you login.

Start Using

Now that you have,

• An Account to access the migCloud portal.
• The necessary Hardware needed for a IoT project.
• Registered the Hardware to your migCloud account.

It is just 1, 2 & 3.

Step 1: SoM Selection

A SoM is the first component in a SoMThing. Hence, selecting a SoM is the first step you must follow to create a SoMThing. It is mandatory to perform a SoM selection.

Step 2: Peripheral Attachment

A Peripheral, in this system, is either a Sensor or an Actuator.

• Sensor type Peripherals are responsible for detecting events or changes in its environment.
• Actuator type Peripherals are responsible for moving and controlling a sub-mechanism in the system.

Once you attach a Peripheral, it is mandatory to provide a JSON Key for the same.

Step 3: Activate SoMThing

Name your SoMThing, add a description(optional) and activate it.

You are ready to roll!!!

Enjoy your IoT device

You can now go to the dashboard to find your first IoT device.

Connect your hardware and power it up. The SoMThing will turn online and start accepting data.
